As an ICU/CCU physician assistant, I enjoyed working with future CRNA's who would look to me when a patient wasn't acting "normal" in their clinical rotation.

We all know that a little knowledge is dangerous, and CRNA's and ICU nurses practice by this daily. To be sure http://www.AnesthesiologistAssistant.com - Anesthesiologist Assistant's are not doctors. AA's are more cautious than most CRNAs, as we put patient safety first and are under no illusions that we are better than a doctor or should be independent (we work as a team in the http://www.AnesthesiaCareTeam.com - ACT Model ). Can a CRNA say this? No, they insist 2 years of training as an RN and taking orders from a PA or MD in an ICU setting is equivalent to medical school. CRNA's are guilty of hubris (you might want to look that word up!). Some CRNA's are talking about Anesthesiologist Assistant's risking your family's lives, while you as a CRNA are advocating work without an anesthesiologist (MD) to support you.

We all know CRNA's are independent and CRNA's will fly by the seat in their pants until someone gets hurt and then finally the focus will be patient safety. Right now it seems your only goal is to protect your independence. Fortunately real doctors are aware of this and are taking steps to remediate the problem in more states every year.

What is the good news? Anesthesiologist Assistants are winning battles every year.
CRNA's become more controlled every year.
